The Book:'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' is an extreme fantasy novel for children. The first publisher for the book was Geoffrey Bles who published this very first to be published book in the Narnia Series in 1950.It's been recently aligned next to the 'The Magician's Nephew' (probably due to the fact that it has been adapted for the famous Movie Series 'The Chronicles of Narnia') thereby holding second position in the series 'The Chronicles of Narnia'.This book is the best known work and is most widely shelved in the libraries around the globe as compared to the other novels/books in the 'The Chronicles of Narnia' series. And is thereby, holding the first place in the ranking among other books in the series.The Story/Plot:A considerable part of the story is set in an imaginary place called 'Narnia'. It's an imaginary place for the author, however, for the leading characters in the novel this place is a wonderful place for perfect escapism (especially in a time when the world was at war).Narnia is a place that inhibited creatures with distinctive abilities, such like semantic/linguistic ability, higher cognitive abilities, etc. The creatures in the kingdom of Narnia are mythical and mysterious.The aesthetic beauty of the Kingdom of Narnia is one of the most important components that make the book so interesting and intriguing.The villain in the story is one woman called the 'White Witch' who is known to the subjects of the land as an evil being and a master in the black sorcery. This witch had been ruling over the kingdom of Narnia for over 100 years of deep winter.On the other hand, and in the other part of the existing dimensions the leading characters of the novel, namely, Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy who escaped from England to the remote country sides of the United Kingdom to escape 'BlitzKreig' of Luftwaffe started to live a new life with Pr. Digory Kirke.In his house (Pr. Kirke's house) actually the child (Lucy) found the mystical wardrobe that hid the way to the other world (Narnia). Lucy the youngest among her siblings was the first to find the path through the wardrobe to the kingdom of Narnia.The story is about their (all siblings) going to Narnia, defeating the wicked 'White Witch' in a decisive battle and bringing peace and order in the kingdom.The Author:C. S. Lewis (full name Clive Staples Lewis) was born on 29 November, 1898 in Belfast, Ireland. He is popular by the name of 'Jack' among his friends and family members. He is best known for his epitome works in the fantasy and fiction genre, namely, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Screwtape Letters, and The Space Trilogy.He was also a member of an informal group of oxford literary connoisseurs/scholars/examiners known as 'Inklings'. His friends in the group were also his colleagues at Oxford University. Some prominent one's who must be mention here are J. R. R. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe begins with the four Pevensie siblings—Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy—being evacuated from London to a country house during World War II. While exploring the vast estate, the youngest sibling, Lucy, discovers a magical wardrobe that serves as a portal to the frozen land of Narnia. Narnia is currently suffering under the iron grip of the White Witch, Jadis, who has cast a spell ensuring it is 'always winter, but never Christmas.' Upon reuniting in Narnia, the siblings learn of a prophecy claiming that two sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve will help restore peace to the realm and end the Witch's tyrannical rule. The children soon encounter Aslan, the majestic and wise lion who serves as the true King of Narnia and the primary antagonist to the White Witch’s evil. As the journey unfolds, Edmund succumbs to temptation and betrayal, putting the entire group in peril. To save Edmund’s life and fulfill the ancient prophecy, Aslan makes the ultimate sacrifice, offering himself to be executed by the White Witch upon the Stone Table. However, the deep magic of Narnia holds a secret: if a willing victim who has committed no treachery dies in a traitor's stead, the Stone Table will crack, and Death itself will be undone. Aslan’s resurrection sparks a climactic battle between the forces of good and evil, leading to the liberation of Narnia from the Witch’s icy hold. The children eventually ascend to the thrones of Cair Paravel, ruling as kings and queens for many years before fate eventually returns them to their own world, where they find that despite their long lives as monarchs in Narnia, almost no time has passed in England.
