AUTORENPORTRÄT Henrik Ibsen wurde 1828 in Skien in Norwegen geboren. Er war der älteste Sohn einer traditionsreichen, vornehmen norwegischen Familie. Seiner Vater war Kaufmann Knud Ibsen. Von 1844 bit 1850 absolvierte Henrik Ibsen eine Ausbildung als Apotheker, aber sein Hauptinteresse galt inzwischen bereits der Literatur. 1850 vollendete er sein erstes Stück, und im Jahr 1857 übernahm er die künstlerische Leitung des Norske Teatret in Kristiania. Später im Leben bekam Henrik Ibsen ein Dichterstipendium für eine Studienreise, und von 1864 bis 1891 lebte Henrik Ibsen abwechselnd in Dresden, München und Rom. Henrik Ibsen starb am 23. Mai 1906.
