📘 About This Book

📖 Summary

Mein Weltbild by Roman Appius, published in 2023 across 218 pages, offers a deeply reflective philosophical exploration born from a lifetime of diverse experiences, professional challenges, and personal encounters. The book serves as a written synthesis of questions that have continuously occupied the author's mind throughout his personal and professional journey. Far from being a detached academic treatise, this work is rooted in the lived reality of an individual who has transitioned through various roles, including student, educator, father, foster father, residential institution leader, biography worker, and home school employee. These rich life paths provided the foundational triggers for the philosophical inquiries explored within the text. The narrative draws heavily upon the formative philosophical lessons encountered during gymnasium years, the structured training and practical experience of teaching, and over two decades of intense caregiving and leadership within small institutions. Furthermore, Appius integrates insights gained from continuous professional development, specialized training in biography work, and dedicated personal research. Beyond formal settings, the book acknowledges the profound impact of daily life: the rich exchanges and encounters with a partner, children, and friends, as well as the quiet, contemplative moments found during solitary activities like hiking. Through this multifaceted lens, Mein Weltbild investigates how an individual worldview is constructed, tested, and refined over time. The author examines the intersection of formal knowledge and practical wisdom, emphasizing how human relationships, solitude, and intellectual curiosity shape our understanding of existence. Readers are invited to reflect on their own lives, considering how their unique backgrounds, challenges, and quiet moments contribute to their personal philosophies. Ultimately, the book is a testament to the value of lifelong questioning and the continuous pursuit of meaning in an ever-changing world.
